About Us!
The Worx! is comprised of Recovery Support Worx Co. (RSW), WillSTAN Housing (The Will to Safely Transition and Address Needs), Key To The City Contracting, and Movement Coaching Center. The Worx! is geared towards empowering individuals and families while they safely transition and address needs. We are a mobile team with the ability to service individuals in their home, the community or current setting (i.e., jail, treatment facility, halfway house, recovery house, shelter, etc.). We navigate through our network systems ensuring the best services by advocating on the participant’s behalf, providing support when requested and access to quality resources. We are a community-based program that offers:
Certified Peer/Recovery Services (CRS/CPS),

Drug and Alcohol Level of Care Assessments (LOCA),
Case Management/Resource Coordination
Community Health Worker (CHW),
Housing,
Health/wellness,
Transportation,
Workforce development.
The Worx! operates with a holistic approach, integrating physical, mental, and social health to support individuals in their recovery journey. By maintaining a continuum of care and fostering community partnerships, we ensure that services are streamlined and effective. Here are some of the additional resources and adjunct services available in the community that will strengthen our initiative and assist the individuals we serve:
Community Partnerships
1. Allegheny County Housing Authority: Provides affordable housing options to ensure individuals have stable and supportive living environments.
2. Pittsburgh Community Food Bank: Offers food assistance to ensure individuals have access to nutritious meals.
3. Foundation of Hope: Provides mentoring and support services for individuals transitioning from incarceration to the community.
4. Goodwill: Offers job training and employment services to help individuals gain valuable skills and secure employment.
5. Macedonia FACE: Provides family support services, including counseling, education, and resources for strengthening family relationships.
6. Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR): Assists individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining employment through vocational training and support.
7. Positive Pathways: Offers mental health and substance use disorder treatment services.
8. Trans YOUniting PGH: Provides support and resources specifically for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, ensuring they have access to inclusive and affirming care.
9. Traveler’s Aid: Offers transportation assistance to ensure individuals can access essential services and appointments.
Collaborative Efforts with Government Agencies
1. Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole: Works closely with The Worx! to support individuals on probation or parole, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and support.
2. Allegheny County Jail Re-Entry Program: Collaborates with The Worx! to provide support and resources to individuals transitioning from incarceration to the community, helping them reintegrate successfully.
3. Other Community Providers: The Worx! partners with a variety of other community organizations to provide comprehensive support services, including healthcare, mental health services, substance use treatment, and more.
The Worx, aims to assist individuals with maintaining COVERY. Looking towards the future, we see are participants for who they are, not their diagnosis, charges, or “Who they use to be.”

We believe that there are many pathways to recovery. The Worx, creates opportunities for our participants to experience: Hope, Choice, Empowerment, Meaning and Purpose, as a conduit to ongoing recovery.
WHAT IS PEER SUPPORT?
Peer-Based Support is mentorship from a trusted adviser who is a tangible example of an individual with lived experiences (past or present) who has success in overcoming substance use, mental health and/or co-occurring disorders.
Certified Support Specialist are professionals trained, and certified by the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
Some CRS/CPS have previous criminal justice involvement and can provide practical insight around the subject matter.

HOUSING
We understand that access to affordable quality housing, continues to be a barrier for most individuals and families.
The Worx! Provides renovated apartments and houses furnished or unfurnished, throughout Allegheny County to eligible individuals enrolled in our Peer Program. We work with individuals and families of all backgrounds and socioeconomic status. The Worx! accepts housing vouchers (Allegheny County and City Section 8) and participates in third party payment programs.
For those individuals who are at risk of homelessness transitioning out of prison, or in-patient treatment, we provide FREE-Covery Respite Supportive Housing. FREE-COVERY RESPITE IS AVAILABLE for up to 90 DAYS while awaiting a bed at a Recovery Housing and/or permanent housing placement.
*ELIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR FREE-COVERY RESPITE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING:
Must have active Allegheny County Medicaid Insurance
Must be 18 years of age and older
Must be actively enrolled in The Worx!-RSW CRS/CPS Support Services.
Must have an in-person or virtual interview prior to housing acceptance.
Must be an Allegheny County Resident transitioning directly from treatment or jail to FREE-COVERY Respite Supportive House.
Participants are required to work with a RSW-CRS/CPS, and CM on achieving their goals identified on their Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for a minimum of 1 hour daily to assist with their transition, while maintaining their recovery. The Worx! administrative office is situated in the center of our respite housing locations.

The Team!
Our staff has over 35 years of experience, devoting themselves to enhancing the well-being others. Our flexibility has allowed us to engage in a range of positions, both volunteer and work related; thus, heightening our overall experience. We have been committed to providing and coordinating services for the vulnerable/high risk populations throughout Allegheny County. The Worx, currently provides a vast majority of services to individuals in community corrections/halfway house, treatment facilities and throughout the community. Our staff is skilled in working with minority and marginalized communities. We work closely with those individuals who identify as black, brown and LGBTQIA+. To date, The Worx, provides services in the following neighborhoods; McKees Rocks, Braddock, Beltzhoover, North Side, Hazelwood, Mt. Oliver, Knoxville, Homestead, Mon Valley and surrounding areas within Allegheny County. Our strong verbal and written communication skills allow us to effectively advocate for the individuals and families we serve. Here at The Worx, we work diligently to support and promote self-sufficiency, by facilitating mentoring psychotherapy or psycho-education groups and/or workshops. It is important to us to focus on the person not the problem. Combined our staff offers academia expertise in social work, child development, family relations, sociology, trauma informed care, case management, housing and lived experience around intimate partner violence, mental health, substance use and the criminal justice system. Here at The Worx, our support staff displays Accountability and Motivation as they empower our participants to play an active role in their recovery and long-term success.
